Tampa—The FMA (Florida Medical Association) PAC unanimously endorsed Attorney General Bill McCollum today in the race for Governor of Florida. The FMA PAC Board of Directors is meeting in Tampa this weekend to endorse candidates in legislative and statewide races. McCollum addressed the PAC Board of Directors today.

“Bill McCollum has been a steady, enduring friend to Florida physicians and patients and an advocate for pro-medicine policies,” said Madelyn E. Butler, M.D., FMA President-Elect and PAC President. “Bill McCollum continues to stand by Florida’s physicians as we work every day to protect patients’ access to care. He also supports meaningful litigation reform in order to prevent physician shortages in Florida and lower the costs for health care.”

“The Florida Medical Association’s support of Florida’s lawsuit challenging President Obama’s unconstitutional health care reform reinforces the fact that this flawed new law will hurt the people of Florida both as patients and taxpayers,” said Attorney General Bill McCollum. “I’m pleased and honored to have the backing of the Florida Medical Association in my campaign for governor. This fine organization and its more than 20,000 members are a great representation of Florida’s medical community.”

“Bill McCollum has a long history of protecting consumers and patients, both in Florida and in Washington, D.C.,” continued Dr. Butler. “The FMA PAC is proud to strongly support Attorney General Bill McCollum in the race for Florida Governor. We look forward to assisting his campaign in every way possible.”
